Exhibition Details

THIS Gallery invites contemporary artists of all disciplines to submit work that subverts the traditional “look-but-don’t-touch” gallery paradigm. Because this exhibition centers on physical interaction, all submitted works must be structurally sound and designed to be repeatedly touched, caressed, or held by the public.

• Eligibility: Open to all contemporary artists, craftspersons, and makers. Artists across Canada are welcome to apply. Please note that selected artists will be responsible for ensuring their work arrives in Vancouver by the stated delivery dates, as late deliveries cannot be accommodated.
• Media: All mediums welcome (sculpture, textiles, ceramics, high-durability mixed media, wearable art, etc.).
• Durability Requirement: Artworks must withstand constant physical handling for the 10-day duration of the exhibition. Fragile, sharp, or highly toxic materials will not be accepted.
• How to Apply: Submit up to 3 works via the form below. Please include an artist statement detailing the physical interaction you intend for the viewer.

Terms and Conditions

By submitting to this open call, artists acknowledge and agree to the following:

• Selected artists may submit up to three works for inclusion in the exhibition.
• All sales will be handled by THIS Gallery. A 50% commission will be retained on all works sold during the exhibition.
• You will be notified if/when your artwork has sold. You will be paid for any sold artworks within 30 days of sale.
• Artists are responsible for delivery and return of their work, including any associated shipping costs. The gallery will cover the cost of return shipments if the artist is not located in the BC Lower Mainland.
• Artworks may have the option to be included in the THIS Gift Shop after the exhibition closes. At the discretion of the Gallery.
• Artwork must arrive by September 20, 2026. Late deliveries cannot be accommodated.
• While the utmost care will be taken in handling artwork, THIS Gallery is not responsible for loss or damage that may occur. Upon acceptance, artists will be required to sign a waiver and release of liability form.

Submission of work constitutes acceptance of these terms.

IMPORTANT DATES

• Deadline for submissions: Sunday, August 30, 2026 – Midnight Pacific Time
• Notification of acceptance: No later than September 10, 2026
• In person artwork delivery dates: Friday, Saturday, Sunday afternoons from September 11 to September 20, 2026
• Artwork delivery deadline: Sunday, September 20, 2026
• Exhibition dates: September 25 – October 4, 2026
• Opening reception/sales event: Saturday, September 26, 12-4 pm – note: artists are encouraged but not required to attend
