THIS Gallery is holding an art auction as a fundraiser for the Vancouver charity, Working Gear. Working Gear is a volunteer-run charity, located in the Downtown Eastside neighbourhood of Vancouver. Working Gear’s mandate is to alleviate poverty by providing interview clothing and/or industry-appropriate personal protective equipment clothing and haircutting services to individuals experiencing unemployment and or underemployment.

Working Gear removes the final barriers to employment, allowing the city’s most vulnerable to access employment with safe, proper fitting personal protective gear including quality steel toe boots and hair cuts, that comply with safety regulations. We helped over 1300 people last year return to work and provided over 500 haircuts. Working Gear also provides office/interview attire clothing to marginalized individuals returning to the work. Working Gear has been around for more than a decade and is a registered charity with the CRA.

The funds will be raised in a silent auction with bidding open from Saturday, September 10th and concluding the evening of the 15th at a live event at the gallery. The proceeds will be split 40:40:20 – artist:charity:gallery. The exhibition will continue through the month of September.

Paintings, sculptures, limited edition prints and photographs, drawings, fine craft, mixed media and other related mediums are all eligible. The following formats are NOT eligible: films, videos, installation work or large outdoor sculptures. Since the art needs to be delivered to the gallery by no later than September 3, 2022, only BC-based artists will be considered.
