Long Distance Portraits
Andrea Robin – Vancouver CANADA
PROJECT STATEMENT
Robin’s new work depicts a reflection on the separation of families, friends, neighbours, strangers, and – at times – a sense of future self in contextual reality through long-distance portraiture. With isolation comes a fragmentation of identity and through this work, including the interactive drawing activity entitled Empathy Station, Andrea Robin is inviting the viewer to reintegrate into community through observation or witnessing of each other and ourselves.
ARTIST BIO
Andrea Robin, BFA, makes works comprised of abstracted colour in pencil, acrylic, and watercolour pigment. The sensitive observation of colour and line evokes empathy and communion with light, person, and plant.
